Children are an important part of the church and it is a real joy to see them learning
about God and beginning to put their trust in the Lord Jesus. Most Sunday mornings
the children, from age 3 - 12 years, begin the service with us, and then after the
opening part of the service they go upstairs for Children’s Church.
We deliberately call it Children’s Church rather than Sunday School, because it isn’t
school and it is church! We have a great little team of teachers and helpers who
lead Children’s Church and do a very good job of it!
On the first Sunday of a new Children’s Church term the children stay and we have
an all age service together. On those Sundays we look at what the children will be
learning and encourage the church to get involved over the term by showing an interest
in what the children have been learning during refreshments and over lunch.
On the last Sunday of the term the children take part in the service sharing with
us the big lessons they have learnt. Jesus words, “Let the little children come to
me,” stick in our minds and hearts as we continue to work through how we can best
honour him with the children who come.
